The Lagos State Government has announced preparations to probe a 22-year-old teacher, Louis Prosper, who reportedly abused a 10-year-old male student at Blessed Peace School in Abule Odu, Egbeda village, Alimosho Local Government Area of the state.
Mr Kayode Sutton, a spokesperson for the state Ministry of Education, stated that the situation could have been resolved much sooner if the ministry had been notified of the teacher’s alleged infraction.
Reports of the teacher’s alleged deed made headlines on Monday, November 18.
The 22-year-old teacher was arrested and jailed by the state police for allegedly threatening the minor at school.
After bringing the survivor to an isolated location in the school, the suspect allegedly urged him to behave like a girl and remove his trousers, according to Punch.
According to the investigation, the suspect led the survivor to the spot on October 18, 2024, by offering to take him to a spelling bee and art competition where the kid could earn money and possibly travel abroad.
When the youngster followed him to the location, the teacher allegedly assaulted him and threatened him not to inform anyone, promising him that he would win the competition.
Sutton responded to the allegations by stating that the proper department had been alerted and an inquiry would begin.
Also, a lady who identified herself as the school’s proprietress but refused to reveal her name told the publication that the suspect had already been apprehended by state police.She stated that the suspect was dismissed once the school learned of his alleged offense.
