Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo reveals her childhood experiences shaped her to become overprotective toward her daughter, Priscilla.
The 46-year-old actress revealed in a recent interview with AY Comedian that following her experience after being abused as a child, she became overprotective while grooming her daughter to avoid similar experiences.
Ojo mentioned that her daughter had once challenged her for being protective and requesting freedom but she insisted on becoming a young adult before letting her make certain decisions.
During her daughter’s teenage years, she always ensured there was someone with Priscilla, particularly a female when she was unable to supervise her daughter’s public activities.
The actress recounted her experience and said that she is much stronger and more mature in dealing with the memories of her childhood experience.
“It’s important to learn from it and make sure no one around you goes through a similar experience because there must be someone outside who has gone through more than what she did,” she stated.
She added that although the public views their mother-daughter relationship as a friendship, her parenting style involves being overly protective to guide her daughter appropriately.
